Milan, 17 November 2016 – LEXIA Avvocati announces that Alessandro Dagnino, founding partner, has been appointed President of IRFIS – Finanziaria per lo Sviluppo della Sicilia S.p.A., or ‘IRFIS-FinSicilia S.p.A.’, the financial corporation of the Sicilian Region, recently entered in the single register of financial intermediaries pursuant to Article 106 of the Italian Consolidated Banking Act.

The company, which specialises in mediocredito (financial solutions for SMEs), arose from the transformation of the Istituto Regionale per il Finanziamento alle Industrie in Sicilia (I.R.F.I.S) – a public-law body established under Italian Law No 445 of 22 June 1950. Since 10 January 2012 the Sicilian Region is sole shareholder and its registered office is in Palermo.

The sole shareholder chose Dagnino, a tax lawyer and professor of tax law at the University of L’Aquila, for his vast expertise, gained both in Sicily and in the rest of Italy, in assisting and providing advice to banks, financial intermediaries and industrial and commercial undertakings.

Alessandro Dagnino commented: ‘My appointment stems from the market, it is the result of my experience as an independent technical expert. After the enrolment by Bankitalia in the register of financial intermediaries pursuant to Article 106 of the Italian Consolidated Banking Act, the Region must manage IRFIS-Finanziaria per lo Sviluppo della Sicilia S.p.A in a professional manner in order to operate as a private entity in the interest of companies and for the development of the local economy’.

‘We will work’, Dagnino added, ‘right now to enable the company to intervene in the best way in support of companies and in order to identify new products and operational methods, devoting particular energies to any companies that intend to make new investments in Sicily’.
