More and more frequently, employees are turning to artificial intelligence (AI) tools that are not authorized by the company to perform their daily tasks. This phenomenon, known as Shadow AI, refers to the unauthorized use of AI applications by employees without the company’s consent or supervision. Among the most commonly used are tools like ChatGPT or Gemini, which allow workers to improve productivity, accelerate processes, and bypass operational inefficiencies.

Aurora Agostini, interviewed by Moneta on this topic, emphasized that „Shadow AI represents the unauthorized use of artificial intelligence tools by employees, outside of any company policy. Workers turn to these tools to enhance their efficiency, but this phenomenon is becoming far from marginal.“

For companies, it is essential to adopt a clear strategy that includes definitive corporate policies on the use of artificial intelligence tools in order to balance the benefits of innovation with the necessary security and compliance measures.
