Milano Finanza published an in-depth article on the growth of investments in the data center sector and the opportunities for listed companies on Borsa Italiana operating across the entire value chain: from energy to networks, and from technology components to cloud services.
According to the article, over EUR 25 billion in investments are expected between 2026 and 2028, with Lombardy set to confirm its role as Italy’s leading hub for the sector.
This development is also supported by the recent regional law on data centers, the first of its kind in Italy, aimed at accelerating authorization procedures and promoting the redevelopment of disused areas.

Marta Scandroglio, Partner in LEXIA, commented on the matter, highlighting that regulatory certainty is a key factor in attracting investments in the sector:
“The coordination with the national regulatory framework remains to be defined. What is certain is that predictable and consistent rules are as valuable as incentives.”
