Renato began his career at Gianni & Origoni, where he served as Managing Partner of the Bologna and Abu Dhabi offices, Co-Head of Private Equity, and Head of Venture Capital. He then took on leadership roles at EY Legal and Tax Studio, where he was Partner Leader for M&A and Private Equity and Managing Partner of the Rome office. Subsequently, he contributed to the growth of Fivers, leading the development of the Corporate Finance and M&A practices.

Throughout his career, Renato has advised both Italian and international clients on high-profile strategic transactions, including the Parmalat case, the joint venture between Alenia, Matra Marconi, and Lagardère, the establishment of Charme Investments, the Alitalia–Etihad transaction, the creation of the Fondo Nazionale Innovazione (CDP Venture Capital), the BPM–Banco Popolare merger, the Iliad–Wind tower business deal, the Serie A League mandate for the potential sale of media rights to CVC, Advent, and FSI, and the sale of Autostrade per l’Italia to CDP and Blackstone. He has also advised major global investors, including the Qatar Foundation on the Mater Olbia Hospital project and Mubadala on the AeroPiaggio investment, in addition to numerous private equity and venture capital transactions in funds formation and acquisition, including the creation of the CDP/Fondi Pensione Negoziali real economy fund.

With over 400 transactions in 35 years of practice, Giallombardo is recognized for his cross-sector expertise in corporate, financial, and infrastructure matters, a pragmatic approach, and a long-term value-driven vision.

Since October 2025, Renato has joined LEXIA as a Partner in the Rome office, choosing the firm as a platform to enhance the professional reputation and network he has built over the years, contributing to the development of both national and international projects and strengthening the firm’s presence in the corporate and investment markets.

He is consistently ranked in Chambers & Partners (Europe and Global) and Legal 500. He was awarded Lawyer of the Year for Venture Capital (2022), Lawyer of the Year for Mid-Market M&A (2023), and was part of the Team of the Year for Private Equity (2009).
