Cristian Fischetti is a Partner at LEXIA and Head of the Banking & Restructuring practice. He also serves as Managing Partner of the Abu Dhabi & Gulf Area office, leading the firm’s presence and development in the United Arab Emirates and across the Gulf region. His practice focuses primarily on corporate crisis resolution and debt restructuring tools, with particular emphasis on debt restructuring agreements, certified restructuring plans, compositions with creditors and extraordinary administration proceedings.
He advises debtors and financial creditors on the management of complex distress situations and debt restructuring processes, including turnaround transactions and investments in special situations. His practice includes legal assistance in connection with the implementation of corporate crisis resolution tools, as well as distressed M&A transactions and financings for distressed companies. Cristian also advises on the sale and acquisition of UTP/NPL receivables, both portfolios and single-name positions, and on insolvency-related litigation, with a particular focus on clawback actions.
He is appointed as an Expert in negotiated crisis settlement proceedings, including in relation to large companies and corporate groups, and is registered on the list of Experts maintained by the Milan, Monza Brianza and Lodi Chamber of Commerce.
Cristian is highly ranked by leading legal directories, including Chambers and Partners (Band 3), The Legal 500 (Leading Partner) and IFLR1000 (Notable Practitioner). He has also been included in the “Super Lawyers and Super Law Firms in Italy” rankings published by Milano Finanza/Class Editori and was named “Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyer of the Year” at the Legalcommunity Forty under 40 Awards.
As part of his academic career, he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.), with honours, from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining LEXIA, Cristian gained more than eighteen years of experience at leading Italian and international law firms, most recently serving as a partner and Head of the Restructuring practice in Italy at a leading international law firm.
