Cristian Fischetti is Partner at LEXIA and Head of Banking and Restructuring practice. He also serves as the Managing Partner of the Abu Dhabi & Gulf Area Office, leading the firm’s presence and development in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region. He primarily focuses on corporate restructuring and insolvency law, with a specialized expertise in debt restructuring agreements, recovery plans, compositions of debts with creditors, and extraordinary administrations.
He assists debtors and financial creditors in handling complex distressed situations and debt restructuring processes, including turnaround and special situations investments. His practice covers corporate reorganization plans, in-court and out-of-court compositions of debts, and the M&A and financing of distressed target companies. Additionally, Cristian deals with the purchase and assignment of UTP/NPL receivables, both portfolios and single-name exposures, and handles bankruptcy litigation, with a focus on claw-back actions.
Cristian is highly ranked by major legal directories, including Chambers and Partners (Band 4), The Legal 500 (Leading Partner), and IFLR 1000 (Notable Practitioner). He has been recognized in the “Super Lawyers and Super Law Firms in Italy” rankings by Milano Finanza/Class Editori and has been named “Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyer of the year” at the Legalcommunity Forty under 40 Awards.
During his academic career, he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) with honors from Northwestern University School of Law and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He is enrolled in the official list of experts for the negotiated settlement of company crises (Composizione Negoziata). Before joining LEXIA, Cristian gained over eighteen years of experience in leading Italian and international law firms, having recently served as partner and head of the Italian restructuring practice of a top-tier international firm.
