In Italy, the number of women in top corporate positions continues to grow, yet balancing professional and family life remains a complex challenge. According to the report “Women and Work in Italy”, 16% of women leave their jobs after the birth of a child, compared to just 2.8% of men. This issue also affects professional firms, where 74% of female professionals do not take advantage of parental support measures, often due to a lack of information.
On this topic, Dol’s Magazine interviewed Silvia Cossu, who shared a deep and sincere reflection:
“Motherhood and a professional career can coexist, but – as I have at least learned to accept – it is not an easy coexistence. You always feel like you are depriving someone of something: whether it is the client, the children, the partner, or friends, and it is probably true. There are no real solutions to these sacrifices. The key is learning and teaching how to manage them, facing them not as a loss but as a gain.”
A difficult balance, but not an impossible one. To delve deeper into this topic, on March 5, LEXIA is organizing the “Colazione al femminile: l’equilibrio tra genitorialità e carriera legale”, an opportunity to discuss, share experiences, and reflect on concrete strategies for balancing motherhood and work.
